"Is this true?"

"This is true," he answers with out thinking. I swallow hard as I sit in the back of a dark room. The voice is coming from somewhere above us and has been asking us questions for hours now. My foot begins to tap as I listen to Dylan spin another lie about why we were in that back alley in the first place.

"Is this true?" the voice asks again. I force my foot to stop tapping so I can hear his answer.

"This is true," he answers again. He's doing it again, being the good guy, the hero. All the lies make things look like it was his fault when it was the other way around. I wanted to see what was down the alley, I wanted to find that little bar Harper had been raving about. He wanted to go back and find a different bar.

I'd get up and pace if they hadn't shackled me to this damned chair.

But they did, so I can't so I sit and listen as he flings him self on the mercy of the court.

"That wasn't true," I said when we found ourselves in the small cell they were keeping us in.

"Sure it was," he said calmly as he came to sit next to me.

"You're always such a horrible liar, why are you so good at it this time?"

"Because this time, it really matters," he said as he looked up at the small window. I sat quietly for a moment as I thought about this.

"Is that true?" I asked quietly after a moment.

"This is true," he answered with a small smile. I smiled and shook my head.

"You're horrible."

"This is true," he responded again.

"I'm sorry," I said after a moment. "I'm sorry I got you into this." He didn't respond right away and a small sigh escaped me.

"Don't be. I should have listened when you and Harper started to ask for shore leave weeks ago."

"We wouldn't have ended up here."

"This is true," he said with a smile and I lost it and started to laugh. The laughter was contagious and he started up too. I'm sure our captors thought we were nuts but I didn't really care at that point and that was true.
